01
Design inputs
State the payload, initial bandwidth, growth profile, client interface, port rate and required transparency. Distinguish Ethernet, OTN and an optical wavelength. A 100G, 400G or 800G planning request does not establish availability on a specific route.
02
Delivery scope
Document both handoffs, access tails, cross-connects and responsibility for each segment. Compare protected and unprotected options using actual failure coverage. Optical channel capacity, Ethernet line rate and usable application throughput are different measures.
03
Acceptance & operations
Specify traffic profile, frame sizes, sustained throughput, error limits, latency endpoints and service continuity during maintenance. Record whether restoration is automatic or operationally coordinated. Performance, delivery dates and SLA terms belong in the agreed route-specific specification.
