Data centre interconnection

Plan connectivity between facilities around the workload: replication, storage access, cloud exchange or AI data movement. The right design links application targets to optical and site constraints.

01

Design inputs

Name the facilities and meet-me rooms; estimate sustained traffic, peaks, replication windows and latency tolerance. Distinguish intra-cluster traffic from inter-site data transfers. Geography alone does not predict application latency, and a faster port does not remove storage or compute bottlenecks.

02

Delivery scope

Compare managed wavelength with a customer-operated optical design. Confirm cross-connect orders, diverse building entries, equipment power, rack access and maintenance windows. Evaluate each path's optical budget and the supported reach of the proposed transceivers.

03

Acceptance & operations

Test the intended workload as well as the circuit. Measure throughput, tail latency, recovery after a path failure and the effect of reduced backup capacity. Agree monitoring ownership and capacity-growth triggers. ADNET assesses connectivity requirements; this page does not claim ownership of the facilities.

Engineering the connection

Evidence before commitment.

  1. 01

    Define the endpoints

Record building addresses, meet-me rooms, rack locations, local access and required interfaces. A city name alone is not a delivery location.

  2. 02

    Establish the physical evidence

Request route documents, fibre rights, border handoffs, shared-risk groups and maintenance responsibilities. Distinguish verified alignment from public schematic topology.

  3. 03

Design the optical and service layers

Review loss, connectors, splices, OSNR, dispersion, regeneration and equipment support. Define bandwidth, protection, timing and the service demarcation.

  4. 04

    Prove the delivered service

Agree test duration, traffic profile, error thresholds, latency measurement points, failover and restoration procedures. Archive the agreed baseline and change process.
